Mongrel Moon is an alternative rock duo based in Kimberley, BC, formed by married couple Jono and Linn Valder. What began as late-night songwriting sessions in the back of their van while traveling through Norway has evolved into a fully realized project defined by atmosphere, intensity, and striking musical chemistry.

With Linn on lead vocals shifting between rhythm guitar, bass, and synth, and Jono on lead guitar and supporting vocals while triggering drum loops via Ableton and a MIDI controller, Mongrel Moon creates a sound that feels far bigger than a two-piece act. Their music blends moody textures with driving energy, drawing influence from artists like Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Billie Eilish and AURORA.

The duo has independently released one EP (Tropical Brutalism), handling every aspect of production, mixing, and mastering themselves, underscoring their hands-on, DIY ethos. On stage, Mongrel Moon delivers an immersive experience that balances intimacy with interaction. Their performances are thoughtfully arranged, often flowing like a cohesive journey inspired by classic albums such as Dark Side of the Moon, while maintaining a dynamic connection with the audience.
